2nd or 3rd Drunk-Driving Offenses in Illinois

Waukegan, Illinois, Attorney Defending People Facing 2nd and 3rd Drunk Driving Charges

At the law firm of Alan E. Jones, P.C. in Waukegan, I understand how stressful a 2nd, 3rd, or greater DUI charge is for you and your family. All of a sudden, you can't drive to work or to the grocery store. Your family is facing a great deal of expense and inconvenience, and you may be on thin ice with your employer. If you are found guilty, you will face revocation and pay heavy fines and possible prison time.

If you are facing your 2nd offense or greater, you need an experienced drunk-driving defense attorney to protect your rights. I have 20 years of experience defending good people in drunk-driving cases.

You don't have to go it alone. Call my Waukegan, Illinois, law offices today to schedule a free, confidential appointment.

What a 2nd or 3rd Offense Means

A 2nd or 3rd DUI offense carries serious penalties. You could lose driving privileges indefinitely, pay fines, and be incarcerated. At a minimum, you will be required to serve at least 5 days in jail or perform community service.

In addition to that, your insurance costs will skyrocket and you could be responsible for court costs and vehicle impound fees.

Second offenders are not eligible for Court Supervision.  Thus, a conviction requires a minimum 1-year revocation, and sanctions including fines, classes, and potential incarceration.

Third offenders, upon conviction, are revoked from driving for a minimum of five years, and sanctions of fines, classes, and potentially 1-3 years in the Department of Corrections.

Fourth offenders face severe felony sanctions, in addition to a lifetime ban from driving without the ability to regain any driving privileges.

Get Skilled Representation If You Are Charged With Repeat Drunk-Driving

You have the right to representation in your drunk-driving case, and you should exercise that right. In my 20-year career, I have found that people who retain experienced lawyers in drunk-driving cases have a much better chance of getting a fair deal and regaining their driving privileges.

Drunk driving law is complex, and the law is still evolving. Don't assume there is no defense. Get a skilled drunk-driving advocate on your side to protect your rights and help you minimize the damage of conviction on a 2nd or 3rd DUI offense.
